ABOUT UNIT 13

Located in the heart of Rotterdam, Unit 13 is an independent, fully equipped photo and creative studio known for its unique atmosphere and dedication to supporting both local and international artists. This residency offers a self-directed working period with access to our facilities, community, and local art scene.

We welcome artists across disciplines (visual art, photography, design, multimedia, performance) who are looking for a focused and inspiring environment to push their practice further.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • A 60 m² Creative Playground with:

    • Dedicated desk in office space + wifi

    • Access to communal kitchen and coffee space

  • Creative support and connection to local networks

  • Artist Welcome Dinner & Intro Talk

  • Opportunity to propose a public event, screening, or exhibition
    in our on-site project space (50m²)

Residency Fee: €499/month
(includes studio, utilities, and basic amenities)
Note: This program is not funded or subsidized. Artists are encouraged to seek external funding: we can provide an official letter of invitation.

Due to fire regulations, the studio is for individual artists only.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please complete the online form and upload one PDF (max 25MB) containing:

  • Artist statement (max 100 words)

  • Portfolio (PDF, max 10 works, include links if relevant)

  • Residency proposal (max 100 words)

  • Optional supporting visuals (PDF)

  • CV (PDF)

  • Your preferred residency time slot(s)

NOTES & FAQ:

  • Only individual artists can be hosted (no duos, no overnight guests)

  • Payment is required upon acceptance

  • The studio is a working space, not a living space

  • Unit 13 is an independent, artist-led space; support is informal and community-driven
